DUSHANBE, July 10, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday evening attended an informal meeting of leaders of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) and the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia) member nations in the Russian city of Ufa, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Speaking at the meeting, Tajik president reportedly drew attention of those present to global problems and obstacles impeding socioeconomic development of emerging countries.
Rahmon, in particular, said that the main obstacles in the way of economic development of the emerging countries were the deepening of food, energy, financial and economic crises and global climate change.
Tajik leader noted that the renewable energy sources, including hydropower facilities, green economy as well as unimpeded functioning of transport links were the main factors to provide global sustainable development.
Rahmon stressed that the landlocked countries were hard to achieve sustainable economic development, and therefore, support for efforts of these countries to create basis for modern national and regional traffic and diversification of economy should be one of priorities.
