DUSHANBE, September 29, 2015, Asia-Plus – Ms. Helen Walker, Head of Central Asia Section at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (United Kingdom), yesterday visited Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says Olimjon Salimzoda, Head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information, briefed Ms. Walker on activities of the professional chamber of Tajik parliament.
Salimzoda, in particular, noted that the Tajikistan/United Kingdom Parliamentary Friendship Group is functioning actively, Sultonov said.
According to him, the two noted that parliamentarians of the two countries could play more active role in promoting further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Dushanbe and London.
Salimzoda and Walker reportedly also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom within the frameworks of international organizations.
