DUSHANBE, December 21, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Senior Tajik lawmaker has been on an official visit to Kuwait.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), reports Majlisi Namoyandagon Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov yesterday was received by His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The two sides reportedly exchanged views on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait, including cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

They also discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

On the same day, Tajik parliament speaker held talks with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.  President of the Kuwaiti-Tajik Parliamentary Friendship Committee Saudi Nashmi Al-Huraiji also attended the meeting.

A special attention was reportedly given to economic cooperation between the two countries, including opening direct air communication between Dushanbe and Kuwait City, launching joint ventures on processing agricultural goods in Tajikistan and supplying Tajik drinking water to Kuwait.

On December 19, Tajik senior lawmaker reportedly met with Speaker of the National Assembly (Kuwait’s parliament) Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem.

The two discussed bilateral cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and Kuwait and progress of implementation of agreements reached between the two countries.

We will recall that issues related to Tajik drinking water deliveries to Kuwait were discussed in Dushanbe on May 2, 2014 during a meeting of Tajik President Emomali with Dr. Abdullah Matouq Al-Matouq, the Adviser at the Council of Ministers of Kuwait.
