DUSHANBE, January 19, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda yesterday received Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan Biraja Prasad.

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and India in combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

Tajik minister, in particular, noted that Tajikistan and India signed an agreement on mutual legal aid in criminal matters in 2001.

This agreement is reportedly intended for cooperation in preventing crime, combating terrorism, exchanging information, etc.

“The current political situation in the world requires combining efforts to address modern challenges and threats,” Rahimzoda said.

Ambassador Prasad, for his part, noted that India was also interested in expansion of bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan.

Rahimzoda and Prasad reportedly also discussed a number of other issues being of mutual interest.
