KHUJAND, July 26, 2016, Asia-Plus - Representatives of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s organization for Sughd province are expected to visit military units deployed in Dushanbe, Khatlon province an districts subordinate to the center (RRP) in August and September this year.
Sarfaroz Yunusov, the head of PDP’s organization for Sughd, says the main purpose of the visit is for representatives of the PDP’s organization for Sughd to get acquainted with living and service conditions in the military units and hold meetings with soldiers conscripted from the Sughd province.
PDP’s organization in Sughd now has more than 83,000 members, including 43,500 women.
Founded in 1994, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting more than 260,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party.
The PDPT has a 73-percent majority in Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament – 46 of 63 seats.
