Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday afternoon received a delegation of Kuwait, led by Dr. Abdullah al-Matouq, Chairman of the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) also UN Humanitarian Envoy for Kuwait.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the two sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait.
In the course of the talks, Rahmon reportedly underlined the significance of cooperation with the International Islamic Charity Organization.
Rahmon outlined sectors like tourism, agriculture, hydropower, construction, minerals, production of high-quality drinking water in Tajikistan, as areas which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Kuwait. Tajik president especially invited Kuwaiti investments in small and medium-sized hydropower, light and food industries, and non-ferrous metallurgy.
The sides also discussed issues related to expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, health care, and culture.
They also exchanged views on the issues of mitigating effects of natural disasters in some areas of Tajikistan and reducing impact of financial and economic crisis.
The International Islamic Charity Organization is one of the most prominent humanitarian charities in the Arab and Muslim world, in the size of projects, diversity and presence in the international and UN forums.
