Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is satisfied with the current level of security cooperation between Tajikistan and China, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
On October 29, Emomali Rahmon reportedly met here with Mr. Cheng Guoping, China’s Special Envoy for Security Affairs.
The two sides discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China in providing regional security.
Tajik leader highly appraised partnership and strategic collaboration between the two countries.
He reportedly expressed satisfaction with the current level of military and technical cooperation between the two countries and appreciated China’s support for improvement of the Tajik-Afghan border management capacity.
Recall that Tajik authorities said last month that China would be building infrastructure to increase security on Tajikistan’s 1,300-kilometer common border with Afghanistan.
Rahmon and Cheng also discussed ways to intensify a joint fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other transnational crimes.
They also discussed a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, the website said.
