The new Ambassador of France to Tajikistan, Mrs. Yasmine Gouedard, presented her credentials to President Emomali Rahmon on November 22.
She told Asia-Plus today that she wanted to intensify political dialogue between the two countries. According to her, France and Tajikistan will conduct their first bilateral political consultations in Paris on December 8.
“I also plan to increase our economic presence here,” said Ambassador Gouedard. “Besides, I would like us to know each other better through cultural exchange.”
Mrs. Gouedard also noted that she attached significant importance to a role of youth in society.
Asked what French companies are operating in Tajikistan, Ambassador Gouedard said, “We have two large investors here: Total and Auchan. Besides, our experts in energy are working in Tajikistan. Our specialists have also been arriving in Tajikistan to provide assistance in facilitating development of rule-of-law society and enhancing the health sector in Tajikistan.”
“I would like more companies to join us for participation in assessing cultural and geographical heritage of Tajikistan,” French diplomat noted.
Tajik ambassador to France recently met with representatives of France/Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Pars. It was noted at the meeting that France was ready to cooperate with Tajikistan in combating terrorism.
Ambassador Gouedard noted that the issue of cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism would be discussed during the bilateral political consultations in Pairs.
