Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov held talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat yesterday on the sidelines of Sixth Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan in the light of implementation of agreements reached during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Tajikistan in October 2015.
Aslov and Kishida reportedly declared for expansion of cooperation between the two countries in economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
In this context, they underlined the important role of Tajik-Japanese joint commission for economic, technical and scientific cooperation that first meeting of which took place in Tokyo on April 14.
The sides reportedly highly appraised a role the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in expansion of Tajikistan-Japan cooperation and noted JICA’s significant contribution to implementation of projects aimed at achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening of Tajikistan’s transportation, energy and investment potentials.
While in Ashgabat, Aslov also held a meeting with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
They reportedly discussed state and prospects of futher expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
