Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Muzaffar Huseinzoda, participated in a video conference of deputy foreign ministers of Central Asia, the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan that took place on May 28, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The conference participants also included deputy foreign ministers of Kazakhstan (Margulan Baimukhan), Kyrgyzstan (Azizbek Madmarov), Turkmenistan (Vepa Hajiyev), Uzbekistan (Sherzod Asadov) and Afghanistan (Mohammad Haroon Chakhansur) as well as Ms. Helga Maria Schmidt, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
They reportedly discussed issues related to joint efforts to address COVID-19 and possible mechanisms of collaboration to reduce its economic consequences in the Central Asian region and Afghanistan.
Ms. Schmidt spoke about the role of the EU in addressing the immediate needs and mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, the participants also exchanged views on the issues of providing regional and international stability and security.
