On Thursday, April 27, President Emomali Rahmon received visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov, who is also Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
They, in particular, discussed issues related to joint implement of large investment projects in Tajikistan, creation of industrial parks in Tajikistan’s free economic zones.
Rahmon and Manturov reportedly outlined sectors like mining, metallurgy, oil refining, electronic, textile, food industries, production of building materials and pharmaceutics and as area, which would drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
They highlighted the importance of launching joint ventures in the textile industry and single production chain as well as developing cotton, wool and leather processing enterprises in Tajikistan through attracting Russian investments and technologies.
The parties reportedly also discussed a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
Denis Manturov is chairman of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) Interstate Commission for Military and Economic Cooperation (IMEC) and arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the 21st meeting of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military and Economic Cooperation (IMEC) that took here yesterday.
Denis Manturov (born February 23, 1969) is a Russian politician who has served as Deputy Prime Minister since July 2022, and Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation since 2012. He was first appointed as acting minister to replace Viktor Khristenko, who resigned from the office.
