On Tuesday April 30, President Emomali Rahmon received the Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov, who arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit.
The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
In the course of the talks, Tajik leader reportedly emphasized the rapid expansion of strategic partnership between the two countries in various areas and express interest in further expansion of it.
Oljas Bektenov, for his part, highly appraised the role of Tajikistan in establishment and expansion of cooperation between the two countries, calling Tajikistan a reliable strategic partner and ally.
The parties, in particular, discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan indifferent sectors such as energy, agriculture, finance, banking, investment, education, culture and tourism.
They reportedly also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in agrarian sector, including the increase in the export of Tajik agricultural goods to Kazakhstan, and in the use of water resources and the transport infrastructure.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon and Bektenov also discussed cooperation between the two countries in various international and regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), and the Consultative Meetings of Central Asian Heads of State.
