On Tuesday November 4, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan participated in the Second World Summit for Social Development held in the capital of Qatar, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  In his speech, Rahmon emphasized that social well-being is a vital foundation for strengthening comprehensive peace, stability, and sustainable development globally.

Rahmon highlighted that the adoption and implementation of Tajikistan’s Population Social Protection Development Strategy through 2040 is a continuation of the country’s ongoing efforts in this area. He stated that this strategy is part of Tajikistan's broader commitment to social development.

“Tajikistan is currently implementing eight government programs and three long-term strategies in the field of education, which play a crucial role in the development of the social sector,” said Rahmon. He also noted that the Tajik government is taking necessary steps to ensure the effective operation of healthcare institutions and improve the quality and accessibility of medical services for the population.

Rahmon further emphasized that, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Tajikistan is focused on enhancing human capital as part of its broader social development agenda. He reported that over the past two decades, the country has created and restored more than 4 million jobs in various socio-economic sectors.

The President also shared his views on the interconnectedness of social development and environmental sustainability in Tajikistan. He noted that, in order to ensure the well-being of the population, Tajikistan has been consistently implementing measures to address the consequences of climate change.

"We emphasize the need for serious actions to improve the access of vulnerable countries to financial resources and ensure sustainable financing, particularly for social services, strengthening human capital, and adapting to climate change,” Rahmon stated.

In his address, the Tajik leader also discussed the country’s transition to a "green" economy and energy sector, as well as the broad implementation of digital technologies and artificial intelligence across various industries in Tajikistan.

Rahmon reminded attendees of the special resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly at Tajikistan’s initiative, titled "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia." He underscored that this resolution could play a key role in achieving the SDGs in the region.

In conclusion, Rahmon emphasized the importance of collective efforts to create equitable conditions for social development for all segments of society and peoples across the world. He called for special attention to social development as one of the key components of the SDGs, urging solidarity in advancing this crucial goal.
