On Friday November 14, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met on Friday with the heads of parliamentary delegations from member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), who are in Dushanbe to attend the session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS).
According to the official website of the President of Tajikistan, the meeting underscored the importance of the IPA CIS as a vital platform for comprehensive and constructive dialogue among CIS countries.
“The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly not only contributes to legislative development and harmonization but also fosters cooperation in key areas such as politics, security, economy, and humanitarian affairs,” Rahmon stated.
He noted that the CIS countries possess significant resources and opportunities in these areas, which should be effectively utilized for the benefit of their peoples.
President Rahmon also highlighted several major events hosted by Tajikistan during its 2025 chairmanship of the CIS, including the CIS Heads of State Summit and the Second Central Asia–Russia Summit, both held in Dushanbe in October.
He noted that over 100 high-level events took place during Tajikistan’s chairmanship, including the ongoing IPA CIS session in Dushanbe.
The President expressed satisfaction with the progress of inter-parliamentary cooperation across the CIS and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to further collaboration within regional and global parliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the IPA CIS.
In his remarks, Rahmon called on parliamentary leaders to intensify cooperation in all areas, especially in addressing shared challenges such as terrorism, religious extremism, cyber threats, drug trafficking, and other forms of cross-border crime.
