President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited the newly constructed Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent on November 15, as part of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The visit was held alongside other regional leaders, according to the official website of the President of Tajikistan.
The center, designed in the architectural style reminiscent of medieval Samarkand and Herat, spans more than 10 hectares. Four grand gates, each 34 meters high, surround the structure, while a 65-meter dome rises at its center—symbolizing the cultural grandeur of the Islamic Golden Age.
During the tour, the guests were introduced to the center’s facilities, which include research departments, a national catalog of rare manuscripts, an extensive library, archival holdings, international cooperation divisions, and sections dedicated to cultural tourism.
A highlight of the center is its exhibition gallery, which showcases historical artifacts and documents spanning centuries, alongside a library housing over 100,000 rare manuscripts.
In addition, detailed presentations were provided on the intellectual legacy of renowned scholars from the ancient region of Transoxiana, including Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Hakim Termizi, Bahavuddin Naqshbandi, and Khoja Ahror Vali—figures whose contributions played a pivotal role in the development of Islamic thought and human civilization.
President Rahmon also attended the inaugural award ceremony of the International Prize “Heritage of Future,” which will be held annually starting in 2025. The award recognizes achievements in fields such as literature, cultural heritage, theater, cinema, music, fine arts, fashion, science, education, and digital technology.
Laureates receive a statuette, a diploma, and a monetary prize. Representing Tajikistan, Davlat Safar, Deputy Minister of Culture and People's Poet of Tajikistan, was honored with the Cultural Heritage Award.
