Tajikistan, Turkey to launch joint cotton-ginning venture in Tajikistan

, Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov held a meeting with Turkish entrepreneurs in Antalia, Rahmonov’s press service reported.
According to presidential press service, speaking to the Turkish entrepreneurs Rahmonov noted that all necessary conditions had been created in
Tajikistan
and Turkish businessmen could invest in the implementation of energy projects in
Tajikistan
.
Abdufattoh Sharipov, a spokesman for the Tajik president, has told Asia-Plus that the Turkish side expressed readiness to participate in implementation of such projects as construction of hydropower plants, launch of joint ventures, and construction of highways and five-star hotels in
Tajikistan
.
According to him, Turkish entrepreneurs are ready to invest this year in the construction of a joint cotton-ginning factory in
Tajikistan
with capacity of production of 8,000 tons of cotton fiber a year.
During the meeting it was noted that a share of Turkish investments in
Tajikistan
’s economy has amounted to US$100 million while in near future, this figure may increase up to US$500 million, Sharipov said.
Tomorrow, President Rahmonov will leave for
St. Petersburg
to attend a summit of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC), which is scheduled for January 25, according presidential press service.
