DUSHANBE, January 30, Asia-Plus - This year, Tajikistan plans to have assimilated 44 percent of investments on the facilities of statewide importance such as hydropower plants, highways and tunnels, presidential press service reported.
Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov presided over a government’s session on January 28. During the meeting it was noted that 44 percent of investments would have been assimilated this year on the construction of hydroelectric power stations, automotive roads Dushanbe-Khujand-Buston, Dushanbe-Jirtgatol-Sarytash (Kyrgyzstan) as well as the tunnels of Anzob and Shahriston.
Minister of Economy and Trade, Hakim Soliyev, telling the session noted that 28 million Somonis would have been provided this year for enhancement of social sector, including the construction of educational and medical facilities.
The meeting also focused of admission of students to the country’s higher educational institutions by presidential quota in 2006-2010. The prime minister noted that to date, Tajikistan has more than 8,000 teachers’ and 6,500 doctors’ vacancies, mainly in rural areas.
The session also considered issues related to the employment of the population in 2006-2007, external labor migration for 2006-2010, and the Dushanbe general plan.
The prime minister demanded at the meeting that adequate measures should be taken to regularly provide the population with natural gas and electricity.
