DUSHANBE , February 3, Asia-Plus - President Rahmonov today had a telephone conversation with head of Jirgatol District, Aslanbek Abdurrahmonov, to discuss the present situation in Jirgatol, presidential press service reported. 

According to presidential pres service, the president ordered Aslanbek Abdurrahmonov to take under his own control the work on removing the disaster effects in the district and distributing financial assistance to families of those who died in the avalanche.  

Rahmonov also pointed to the necessity of timely providing medical assistance to people affected by the disaster.   

As it had been reported earlier, the deadliest avalanche struck the Tojik Mahalla village in Jirgatol, some 300 kilometers northeast of Dushanbe , before dawn Tuesday [January 31], killing 18 people and destroying seven residential buildings.
