DUSHANBE, October 5, Asia-Plus - President Emomali Rahmonov yesterday visited the Hissor district.
According to presidential press service, the main purpose of the visit was for the president to review a progress of the implementation of the government resolutions and programs on socioeconomic development of the district.
The president’s working trip to Hissor started with visit to the farming unit Vatan, where the head of state familiarized himself with a progress of the cotton harvesting campaign and met with cotton pickers. According to the source, cotton farmers told the president that they are paid 0.15 somoni per one kilogram of cotton and receive their wages in ten days. “The farming unit head Nurali Teshayev said that beginning from today the payment for one kilogram of cotton increased by 0.05 somoni and the farming unit has reached 90 percent of its cotton target by today,” the source said.
The head of state noted that cotton growers should use warm days to step up the cotton harvesting campaign so that they can gather the harvest in good time and without any loss. He also pointed to the necessity of opportunely paying wages of cotton pickers.
During the trip to Hissor Rahmonov also visited the stock-raising farm Barakat, which at present has 1,200 head of sheep. All in all, there are 24,000 of head of sheep on public sector in the district, which is 3,000 head more than in 2003.
The president also visited dairy farm in this unit. The local diary farm daily produces from 7 to 10 tons of milk. Over the past nine months, the diary-farm Barakat has produced 1.2 tons of milk, which is 60 tons more compared to the same period of last year. At present 195 people work with the diary-farm Barakat, and an average monthly wage in the farm is 300-450 somonis. Besides, its workers are provided with free meals, clothing and transport.
