DUSHANBE, January 18, Asia-Plus - The capital mayor is dissatisfied with a progress of work on revising the Dushanbe general plan.
The issue of making changes to the city general plan was considered at a January 18 meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office presided over by its head, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.
Ubaidulloyev addressing the meeting noted that the Dushanbe residents are not well informed of the plan and pointed to the necessity of more actively drawing the city dwellers into the work on revising the capital city’s general plan, and “knowing the city dwellers’ views on how to improve the city.”
The mayor stressed that that one of the key tasks in 2007 is to improve the situation in the construction sector and to decide what to do with 340 hectares of lands that the city brought back to its jurisdiction from the nearby districts.
During the meeting it was noted that now, contracts on providing plots of land in the city will be concluded directly between foreign investors and the city administration. Under one of the terms of such contracts, not less than 80 percent of a total number of workers to construct a facility in the capital city will be recruited from the local population.
The mayor also noted that this year, the city administration will have inventoried all the industrial enterprises based in Dushanbe.
Ubaidulloyev also noted that work on supporting development entrepreneurship and education sector in Dushanbe will be continued this year as well.
