DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus - President Emomali Rahmon today sent a telegram of condolences to his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, over the death of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, presidential press service said.
In his telegram, Rahmon said that Yeltsin had been initiator of democratic foundations of new international relations and made invaluable contribution to coming-to-be and development of member nations of the CIS.
Rahmon also noted in the telegram that Boris Yeltsin had made significant contribution to reestablishment of peace and national accord in Tajikistan and asked to convey his deep condolences to family and friends of Boris Yeltsin.
Boris Yeltsin, who had a history of heart trouble, died of heart failure in a Moscow hospital.
His funeral will be held in Moscow on Wednesday, which has been declared a national day of mourning in Russia.
