DUSHANBE, August 6, Asia-Plus — Tajik banks are recommended to take part in implementation of Tajikistan’s national program for full-cycle processing of Tajik cotton inside the country by means of attraction of domestic and foreign investments as well as use of their own means, presidential press service said.
The ministry of energy and industries, local authorities of Sughd, Khatlon, Dushanbe, as well as cotton-growing districts subordinate to the center are to work out and submit for consideration to the government investment projects on introduction of the state-of-the-art technologies for production of competitive textile products and construction of enterprises for processing cotton-fiber.
“Besides, they are tasked to increase as afar as possible production of cotton-fiber, textile product, reconstruct and modernize textiles enterprises,” Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for the president, said.
We will recall that according to experts, not more than 12.5 percent of the cotton Tajikistan produces is processed into manufactured goods in Tajikistan, while the remainder is exported for manufacturing outside the country.
