DUSHANBE, September 11, Asia-Plus   — During his short visit to Tursunzoda, President Emomali Rahmon has reiterated that Russia’s aluminum giant Russian Aluminum (Rusal) will not participate in the project to complete the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) in Tajikistan. 

Speaking to journalists in Tursunzoda, Emomali Rahmon said that fate of this facility of the statewide importance should not be in hands of one private company.  

The head of state said that Russia’s Vise-Premier Sergey Naryshkin recently visited Tajikistan and he said that the Russian side is preparing a new agreement on the Roghun hydroelectricity project.   

The president also noted that construction of the Sungtuda-1 power plant, which is funded by the Russia’s Unified energy Systems (RAO YeES), in the Khatlon province is in a full swing.
