KHUJAND, November 14, Asia-Plus - Energy shortage problem facing Tajikistan will be tackled in the coming two years, President Emomali Rahmon announced at a meeting of the Sughd regional administrators in the Abreshim Culture Palace in Khujand on November 14.  

President Rahmon Wednesday arrived in northern Tajikistan for a three-day working visit.   

Tajikistan is regularly hit by electricity shortages, and is pursuing greater self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

President Rahmon also noted that the Abreshim Culture Palace will be renamed Abu Abdullo Rudaki Culture Palace.   

After the meeting, the head of state left for the Chorukdaron settlement to inaugurate a new cement plant, which was built by construction company Amon.  The plant is capable to produce some 100,000 tons of cement per year.
