DUSAHNBE, November 17, Asia-Plus -- A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 15 anniversary of the 16th session of Tajikistan’s Shuroi Oli (Supreme Court) of the 12th convocation was held at the Arbob Palace in Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district on November 16.
Addressing the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon named the 16th session “an important landmark in restoration of constitutional order in the country and beginning of a constructive period in its development,” presidential press service said.
Reminding of achievements reached by the republic in establishment of national statehood and efforts taken to promote further socioeconomic development, reducing the country’s isolation from neighboring markets, providing energy and food security and thereby contributing to poverty reduction, the head of state expressed confidence that each member of society will make contribution to providing adequate living conditions of each national of Tajikistan.
The president noted that historians, sociologists and specialists in conflict settlement issues should thoroughly study reasons and factors that had contributed to the beginning of civil conflict in Tajikistan in the early 1990s. “It is to be noted that political crisis in the country was the result of cross between various factors, including activities of certain domestic political circles and our external enemies,” said Rahmon, “Certain circles in some counties set themselves demolition of young sovereign Tajikistan as an object.”
He also reminded of important decisions taken at the 16th session. The president also noted that over the past 15 years, favorable conditions have been created for domestic and foreign investments and construction of a number of small and large hydropower plants, roads, runnels and bridges has begun.
Some 100 investment projects for a total mount of $2.2 billion have been implemented in the country over the mentioned period, Rahmon said.
He outlined fruitful work on implementation of the national development strategy and the national poverty reduction strategy as priorities of the government’s activity.
