DUSHANBE, February 19, Asia-Plus  -- The Dushanbe mayor’s office has considered issues related to improvement of the Tajik capital.

A working meeting presided over by Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev was held on February 18.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, said that the meeting had heard report of the commission of the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis) on a progress of implementation of mayor’s resolution of October 25, 2007 on improvement of passenger transport services in the city.  

Managers of the unit for implementation of the Dushanbe water supply support project are to tighten control of targeted use of the provided funds.  They mayor urged the Dushanbe municipal waterworks to improve work on chlorinating the city''s water supply and take adequate measures to ensure provision of the population with safe drinking water.        

During the meeting, it as also decided to hold a citywide subbotnik (a day of volunteer work) for cleansing the streets of garbage and planting trees in the city, the spokesman said.
