DUSHANBE, April 5, Asia-Plus -- On Friday April 4, President Emomali Rahmon had telephone conversations with district administrators in the Vakhsh Valley, Khatlon province to discuss districts’ economic results in the first quarter of this year, presidential press service said.
Heads of the districts of Rumi (Habibullo Sadulloyev), Jilikul (Eshbouri Esanqulov), Qubodiyon (Mahmadrahim Ismoilov), Nosiri Khustrav (Hakim Karimov), Shahritus (Kholmurod Rahmonov), Vakhsh (Aloviddin Sattorov) and Bokhtar (Abdulmumin Ulfatov) reported on a progress of the sowing campaign and introduction of a new system of funding the cotton sector.
The head of state demanded that they take adequate measure to combat locusts and other pests, ensure effective use of all lands requiring irrigation and development of vegetable growing and gardening as well as intensify settlements improvement work.
During the talks, it was noted that districts in the Vakhsh Valley should take efforts to fill consumer markets with domestic food products in order to promote providing food security of the country.
The president also pointed to the necessity of enhancing state of educational and medical facilities in the region. He also set tasks on construction of new schools and first aid stations in the mentioned districts.
President Rahmon also noted that the districts should start preparations for the autumn-winter season already today and ordered to take adequate measures to ensure regular work of their economies during autumn-winter 2008-2009.
