DUSHANBE, May 12, Asia-Plus  -- Issues related to enhancement of agrarian sector were a major topic of a May 10 meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with newly appointed managers of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and its institutions, according to presidential press service.  

Speaking at the meeting, the president called on them to develop scientific activity and provide practical assistance to farming units.  

Rahmon pointed to the necessity of planting high-yield crops and developing animal husbandry, poultry and fishery both in public and private sectors.  

            The presidents noted that it is necessary to use advanced international experience in plant-growing in order to increase grain yields on areas requiring irrigation to 5 tons per hectare.

He also underlined the necessity of rational use of funds allocated from the budget.  

            The newly appointed managers are to report to the president on the results of work done in a year, the presidential press service said.
