DUSHANBE, May 20, Asia-Plus -- State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan were discussed yesterday at a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Japanese Ambassador to Tajikistan Tsutomu Hiraoka.
According to presidential press service, President Rahmon noted that Japan is important and reliable partner of Tajikistan within the Asian continent and highly appraised the results of his visit to this country that was held last December.
The president noted that a grant agreement on the project for rehabilitation of the Qurghon Teppa – Dusti road is one of results of that visit, the press service said.
During the meeting, the two also exchanged views on implementation of the Central Asia+Japan dialogue, which is a political initiative between Japan and Central Asian nations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan with a goal to create a new framework for cooperation, preparation of projects and construction of automotive road and railway Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan and other projects aimed at enhancement of energy, transportation and communications sectors in Tajikistan.
