DUSHANBE June 12, Asia-Plus -- Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), yesterday met with visiting delegation of the Council of Federation (Russia’s upper chamber of parliament) led by Valerian Viktorov, the first deputy head of the Council of Federation’s office, to discuss preparations for the next Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum.
According to Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for relations with media and NGOs, the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ramazan Abdulatipov also attended the meeting.
The Russian delegation arrived in Tajikistan on June 8 for a five-day visit to discuss with Tajik officials preparations for the next Tajik-Russian parliamentary forum, entitled “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Interregional Cooperation” that will be held in Dushanbe this year, from October 22-24.
Underlining the importance of the forum as a new significant institution for expansion of cooperation between the two countries the sides pointed to the necessity of participation of entrepreneurs in the forum, the spokesman said.
