DUSHANBE, August 5, 2008, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon today morning left for the Vahdat district, some 17 kilometers to the east of Dushanbe, for a short visit, according to presidential press service.
The purpose of the visit is for the president to get acquainted with the present socioeconomic situation in the region.
Emomali Rahmon inaugurated a number of new facilities in Vahdat, including book shop and shopping center that had been built under support of local entrepreneurs
During his stay in the district, Emomali Rahmon also visited a number of farming units to familiarize himself with a progress agricultural works and intermediate sowing campaign.
In the afternoon, the president will preside over the republican seminar to discuss prospects of development of the agrarian sector in the second half-year of 2008, presidential press service said.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), the seminar consider issues related to efficient use land, increase in production of agricultural goods and improvement of quality of intermediate sowing campaign.
The seminar participants include administrators of the provinces and districts subordinate to the center as well as researchers and specialists in the agricultural issues. Researchers and experts are expected to offer their methodological recommendations on enhancement of the agrarian sector.
