DUSHANBE, August 7, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today arrived in Beijing to attend an official opening of the 2008 Olympic Games due on August 8.
Abdufttoh Sahrifovzoda, a spokesman for the Tajik president, told Asia-Plus by phone from Beijing that Erkin Rahmatulloyev, State Adviser to the Tajik President for International Matters, and Maliksho Nematov, Chairman of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, are accompanying Rahmon on his visit to China.
At the Beijing airport, Rahmon was met by a number of high-ranking Chinese state officials, Tajik Ambassador to China Rashid Olimov and President of Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) Bahrullo Rajabaaliyev.
Today, President Rahmon will hold talks with top managers of China’s largest wireless and telecommunications manufacturer, ZTE, to discuss issues related to investment in enhancement of Tajikistan’s telecommunications sector, the spokesman said.
Emomali Rahmon will also meet with Tajik Olympic competitors in the Olympic village today evening.
