DUSHANBE, August 27, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Tajik-Chinese negotiations in an enlarged format with participation of the delegations of the two countries that were held in Dushanbe today, following bilateral talks of President Emomali President and his Chinese counterpart, President Hu Jintao, resulted in signing of a joint declaration and 12 government-to-government cooperation agreements.
The joint declaration on further expansion of relations of neighborliness, friendship and cooperation was inked by Rahmon and Hu.
Other documents signed by the sides included a program of cooperation between Tajikistan and China for 2008-2013, protocol on exchange of ratification instruments on friendship and cooperation, an agreement between Tajik National University and International Office for Studying Chinese Language, an agreement on avoiding double taxation; frame agreement on expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and China, certificate of transfer of interest-free loan in an amount of 50 million yuans, an agreement on technical and economic cooperation, an agreement on international automotive communication, an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and China’s Export and Import (Eximbank) Bank, as well as an agreement between China Development Bank (CDB) and Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank).
President Hu Jintao arrived in Tajikistan for a state visit yesterday evening. During his state visit to Tajikistan, Mr. Hu is also scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and chairmen of both chambers of Tajik parliament.
On August 28, he will attend a summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
