DUSHANBE, September 4, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has urged local entrepreneurs to lower prices of basic food products during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
According to Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, this issue was discussed at a September 3 meeting with participation of local entrepreneurs and heads of Dushanbe’s markets.
The meeting considered measures taken in the city to implement president’s instruction to lower basic food product prices during Ramadan. Thus, entrepreneurs and markets were recommended to lower prices of basic food products during the month of Ramadan by 20 percent.
Butcher''s shops, which are located in Dushanbe’s microrayon 33, in particular, promised to lower mutton and goat’s meat prices by 10 percent, the spokesman said.
