DUSHANBE, October 17, 2008, Asia-Plus -- New German Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Doris Hertrampf, today presented credentials to President Emomali Rahmon.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Rahmon, Ms. Hertrampf noted that they had discussed a broad range of issues related to Tajik-German cooperation in the fields of economy and culture as well as the progress of implementation of the European Union Strategy for Central Asia.
German diplomat noted that German entrepreneurs have been interested in investing in development of Tajikistan’s economy. According to her, two visits of German entrepreneurs to Tajikistan this year are evidence of that.
Ms. Hertrampf also highly appraised the results of work of the German-Tajik economic commission that had met in Dushanbe recently. “My government has decided to allocate some 36 million euros next year for financing of a number of projects in Tajikistan and I informed the Tajik head of state of that,” German Ambassador said.
