DUSHANBE, October 18, 2008, Asia-Plus -- If we do not take real measures to reduce corruption in society, especially in public bodies, today, tomorrow there will be no enough places in jails to keep prisoners, MP Shodi Shabdolov said.
He remarked this, while addressing the parliament hearings on October 17.
According to him, more than 36 million somoni, embezzled by separate officials, have been returned to the national budget over the first nine months of this year. “This amount is equal to annual budgets of eight districts of the country,” Shabdolov said.
The parliamentarian noted that 2 million somoni of state funds had been misappropriated by enterprises of the Ministry of Energy and Industries over the report period. The similar amount has also been misappropriated at the national air carrier, TajikAir, over the same nine-month period.
