DUSHANBE, October 20, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Third Tajik-Russian Inter-parliament Forum, entitled “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Interregional Cooperation,” will be held in Dushanbe from October 23-24.
President Emomali Rahmon, Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev and his Russian counterpart, Federation Council Speaker Sergey Mironov, will address the forum.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, said that Mironov will arrive in Dushanbe on October 23. On October 24, Russian speaker is scheduled to hold talks with President Rahmon and speakers of both chambers of Tajik parliament.
A broad range of issues related to cooperation between the regions of the two countries, including improvement of legal foundation, investment climate, business project, will be discussed at the forum.
The forum participants will include representatives of business circles, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the regions of Tajikistan and Russia.
The forum is expected to end with signing of a number of cooperation agreements between the regions of the two countries.
