DUSHANBE, October 30, 2008, Asia-Plus -- An October 29 government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, considered more than 40 issues.
According to presidential press service, the issue related to implementation of the Law on Amnesty of Citizens and Legal Entities in Connection of Legalization of Property was one of major topics of the meeting.
During the meeting it was noted that relevant commissions had already received 14,500 applications from citizens over legalization of property. 6,172 applications have already been considered and 5,300 people have received appropriate property legalization certificates.
Speaking at the meeting, Emomali Rahmon noted that according to the preliminary estimates, the total cost of the amnestied property was 2.2 billion somoni. He noted that the term for legalization of property would expire in two months and people would not have such a chance any more.
The Law on Amnesty of Citizens and Legal Entities in Connection of Legalization of Property was adopted in May 2007. In June 2008, parliament endorsed amendments made to the law. The amendments provided for extending the initial six-month period set for legalization of property for another six months.
The meeting also considered draft amendments proposed to a number of laws that will be submitted for consideration to the parliament.
