DUSHANBE, February 17, 2009, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon today had a telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart, President Hamid Karzai.
According to presidential press service, the presidents discussed present state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan as well as international and regional issues being of mutual interest. Rahmon and Karzai in particular, paid a special attention to joint projects aimed at construction of bridges and roads consolidating permanent overland links between the two countries.
In the course of the talks, they also considered issues related to the upcoming summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) that will beheld in Tehran, Iran next month, the press service said.
