DUSHANBE, February 26, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Some 40 issue were considered at a February 25 government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, according to presidential press service.
The meeting, in particular, considered report on state of lands, distribution of them and land users in the country as of January 1, 2009.
The session also considered bills requiring amendments to the country’s laws on joint-stock companies, higher vocational education, education, licensing of certain types of activity, etc. The draft laws were sent for consideration to the parliament.
The meeting considered and approved a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Yemen on economic and scientific-technical cooperation as well as two documents concerning cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC).
The meeting participants also endorsed rules on procedure of registration of and granting Tajik visa to foreign citizens and persons without citizenship.
They also considered the course of implementation of projects for rehabilitation and construction of the Dushanbe-Danghara and the Dushanbe-Kulob-Khorog-Murgab-Kulma highways.
During the meeting, it was decided that the nameless peak located northeast of the Academy of Sciences Range would be named the Ozodi (Freedom) Peak. An international expedition consisting of 20 mountaineers will be organized this year for hoisting Tajik national flag on the peak.
Speaking at the meeting, President Rahmon set specific tasks on implementation of agreements reached during his visit with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on February 24.
