DUSHANBE, March 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have approved the draft law “On Dehqon (Peasant) Farms” in the second reading.
A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its head, Saydullo Kahirulloyev, was held on March 18.
Presenting the bill, MP Rrahmon Umarov noted that the draft was approved in the first reading at the end of last year and parliamentarians that time decided to bring up the bill for the universal discussion.
“We discussed the bill with representatives of farming units in many regions of the country and took into consideration their proposals while working out the final version of the law,” Umarov said.
Parliamentarians also considered and ratified the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and India for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion.
