DUSHANBE, September 15, 2009, Asia-Plus -- On Monday September 14, governors of Gorno Badakhshan, Khatlon and Sughd provinces reported to President Emomali Rahmon on measures taken to prepare their regions for the winter period, according to presidential press service.
A special attention was given to issues related to procurement and delivery of fuels to educational and medical facilities.
The governors also reported on the process of implementation of president’s decree on additional measures to ensure economic use of electric power.
The president called on local officials to purchase and distribute energy-saving light bulbs to poor families during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan free of charge. Rahmon also ordered them to set strict control over shift to the energy-saving light bulbs.
The president also charged the governors to organize farm produce fairs during this week. The head of state also called on local officials to provide support to the vulnerable sections of the population, including poor families, elderly people who do not have relatives to support, disabled people and orphaned children.
