DUSHANBE, September 19, 2009, Asia-Plus  - A September 18 government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, considered issues related to adequate preparation of the country’s economy for winter and preparation and celebration of the 1310th anniversary of Imam Azam, according to presidential press service.

The meeting participants included senior representatives from the government, president’s office, heads of ministries, as well as representatives of intelligentsia.

Reporting on preparations for marking the 1310th anniversary of Imam Azam, Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Ruqiya Qurbonova, noted that more than 500 known researchers from almost 50 countries had confirmed their participation in an international conference that would be held in Dushanbe on this occasion.

Concerning adequate measures to ensure regular work of the country’s economy during autumn-winter period, the meeting participants, in particular, discussed issues related to economically using electricity and stocking food products and fuels, including liquefied gas and coals, for winter.

During the meeting it was noted that this year, Dushanbe would be partially provided with natural gas from gas field in Khatlon’s Rumi district.

The meeting also discussed preparations for nationwide shift to the energy-saving light bulbs.  The meeting participants noted that shift to the energy-saving light bulbs would allow saving electricity supplies by some 60-70 percent that would considerably improve electricity and heating supplies to the population during the winter period.
