DUSHANBE, September 19, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev on September 17 signed a resolution requiring taking measures to ensure proper implementation of the autumn conscription campaign in the city.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that under that resolution, the Dushanbe city conscription commission would be set up and similar commissions would be set up in all four Dushanbe’s districts. The Dushanbe military registration and enlistment office is to submit information about the conscription campaign results to the mayor’s office by December 5.
We will recall that the president on September 10 signed a decree on drafting young Tajiks into the country’s armed forces from October through November 2009. The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve. The same decree provides for the retirement from active duty of soldiers and sergeants whose service under conscription is over.
