DUSHANBE, October 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Upper chamber (Majlisi Milli) of Tajikistan’s parliament (Majlisi Oli) today seconded the law on amendments to the country’s administrative code.

Under these amendments Dushanbe residents will not be allowed to have domestic animals at home beginning on January 1, 2010.

The list of banned livestock includes cows, donkeys, horses, and domestic birds. Dushanbe residents are still allowed to keep cats and dogs at home though.

Member of the Majlisi Milli Mehmon Bakhti noted that those who break the rules will have to pay a fee 350 to 700 somoni for physical entities and 3,500 to 10,500 somoni for legal entities.
