DUSHANBE, October 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- President Emomali Rahmon today extended congratulations to his German counterpart, President Horst Köhler, on the Day of German Unity, according to presidential press service.

In his message of congratulations, Emomali Rahmon wished peace, wellbeing and prosperity to the whole people of Germany on behalf of the people and the government of Tajikistan.

Tajik leader expressed confidence that due to joint efforts they will be able to raise level of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.  He also expressed readiness to undertake efforts to promote further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany in the interest of the peoples of both countries.  

The Day of German Unity (German: Tag der Deutschen Einheit) is a national holiday in Germany, celebrated on October 3, which commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990.
