DUSHANBE, October 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The settlement of Darband will be a new administrative center of the Nourobod districts after the reservoir for the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) submerges a certain area of the district including the current administrative center, according to presidential press service.

During his today’s short working trip to the Rasht Valley, President Rahmon visited the settlement of Darband, where he inaugurated a number of 46 facilities that had been built in the settlement due funds allocated from the national budget.

Rahmon, in, particular, inaugurated a new three-story school to accommodate 1,176 pupils in the settlement.

The president also attended ceremonies of official opening of buildings of the district administration, police department, prosecutor’s office, military registration and enlistment office, branches of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) and Agroinvestbonk in Darband.

In Darband, President Rahmon also attended an official opening of a new three-story building for the central district hospital with 100 beds.  7 million somoni have been provided from the national budget for construction of the hospital building.  The hospital is provided with all necessary modern medical equipment.

The president also got acquainted with achievements of farming units in the Nourobod district, the press service said.

We will recall that before visiting Darband, President Rahmon attended ceremonies of official opening of two bridges in the Rasht Valley.

In the Langari Shoh area in the Tojikobod district, Tajik leader together with Chinese ambassador to Tajikistan and top managers of China’s company, China Road, attended an official opening of the bridge across the Surkhob River that links Rasht and Tojikobod districts.

A total cost of the project for construction of this bridge with capacity of 120 tons is 18 million somoni.  200 Tajik builders together with Chinese specialists participated in construction of the bridge and rehabilitation of a road 25 kilometers in length.  The bridge has been built in the Tojikobod district the framework of the Dushanbe–Kyrgyz Border Road Rehabilitation Project, which is implemented under financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

In the Khijborak jamoat in the Rasht district, President Rahmon attended an official opening of a 30-ton bridge across the Surkhob River linking the district to the Dushanbe-Jirgatol highway.  The bridge has been built within the framework of the Rural Poverty Reduction Project in Tajikistan, which is sponsored by ADB’s Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR).  10.4 million somoni have been spent for construction of the bridge and rehabilitation of 14 kilometers of rural roads in the district.
