DUSHANBE, November 11, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Today morning, President Emomali Rahmon received Azeri Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, who arrived in Dushanbe to attend the CIS defense minister’s meeting and on an official visit, according to presidential press service.
In the course of the talks, the sides discussed issues related to military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
President Rahmon assessed positively the present level of bilateral relations between the two countries in different fields and expressed confidence that military cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan would develop.
Training of military personnel, scientific-military cooperation, as well as the current situation in the world and the region were among major topics of the talks.
Today, Azeri defense minister also held talks with Saydullo Khairulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament). Today, Abiyev is also scheduled to meet with his Tajik counterpart Sherali Khairulloyev.
