DUSHANBE, December 2, 2009, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon is expected to meet with senior representatives of political parties of Tajikistan on December 4. Asia-Plus has learned at president’s administration.
The source says the meeting will be held on sidelines of a session of the Public Council of Tajikistan. Preparation of political parties for the upcoming parliamentary elections due in February 2010, problems facing civil society and the energy supply issues are among major topics of the meeting, he added.
The Public Council of Tajikistan comprises representatives of state bodies, political parties and civil society. Seven of eight officially registered political parties of the country are represented in the Public Council. The Public Council established the Social partnership Club, which brigs together some 70 representatives of the Public Council to discuss and find consensus on pressing social issues.
