DUSHANBE, December 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- In the first quarter of 2010, contribution of the Dushanbe enterprises and organizations to construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is expected to amount to 125 million U.S. dollars, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, with personal initiative of well-to-do sections of the population on buying shares in Roghun, Dushanbe’s investments in Roghun’s construction may reach 150 million U.S. dollars by the end of 2010.

On the Day of Dushanbe Residents’ Solidarity for Construction of Roghun HPP, which will be marked on January 6, 2010, Saidov said that the Dushanbe administration planned to buy shares in Roghun for 13.2 million somoni on this day.  “The funds will be provided due to energy savings in connection with shift to the energy-saving light bulbs (more than 2.6 million somoni), reduction in allocations for purchase of municipal engineering (some 8.4 million somoni) and sale of apartments that were transferred to the mayor’s office by companies constructing apartment buildings in Dushanbe (2.2 million somoni),” the spokesman said.
